The “A to Z of Favourite Anime” Challenge.

Wow a new challenge, I am so ready for this one! Thanks to Lina over at Tiny Ugly Animal for the nomination for this lovely challenge where I have to name my favourite anime in line with the alphabet. This challenge was created by Railgunfan75 and is actually known as Railgunfan75’s Anime Favorites A-Z Challenge. (I will admit that this is the first time I’ve come across Railgunfan75 so don’t know who he is yet, but I will be following his blog from now on!!)

Rules

  1. Pick a favourite series/movie for each letter of the alphabet. For titles starting with “a” “an” or “the” use the first letter of the next word of the title.
  2. Since many titles have multiple names based on the language that you are using please pick one language for the entire list (Use all English titles or all Japanese titles) and let the readers know which language you will be using. If a title has the same name regardless of the language then it can be used in any list.
  3. If you don’t have a title that fits under a particular letter, you can name another favourite from a different letter in it’s place, just indicate which letter spot you are using for that series. This can be done up to three times. If you can’t fill a spot then you can leave it blank. No more than 26 total series are allowed.
  4. Including a picture for each series is encouraged.
  5. Share who tagged you for this challenge and nominate 3 more to try it themselves and include links to their blogs.
  6. Just have fun with this challenge. I wanted to get everyone to share some favourite series and to spread the word about awesome blogs!

Nominees

I’m going to do something a little different and place the nominations here first then listing them at the bottom, just so everyone can see them. The only thing is I don’t know who has already been nominated for this challenge already so I may double nominate someone, if I do double nominate someone feel free to add your own nomination to take your place!

Irina at I drink and watch anime A new blogger that I have discovered and just had to throw this her way!!

Pinkie at Pinkie’s Paradise (Sorry about nominating you again for another challenge! xD) Who is celebrating her blog’s anniversary this week!!

Mallow at Secluded Observation I just had to nominate Mallow, I so want to know what your favourite anime is! xD

The A to Z of Anime!

“Now onto the show” as they say. The anime that are so dear to me, that I will constantly rewatch over and over again. I will be using their Japanese titles as I think it’s suits the theme of the challenge better, plus I usually refer to some anime by their Japanese titles anyway and it’s something that I am comfortable using. I will admit that this challenge was so darn hard. There were so many letters to go through! (26 letters in fact!) Anyway onward we go

(It really didn’t help that I had multiple favourites that had the same letter in the title!)

A is for Aa! Megami Sama!

This is one of the many anime that got me into watching anime alot more back in 2010 and got me out of the slump that I was in at the time. It is also still a big part of my life as this anime is the one that actually got me and my partner dating, sounds strange doesn’t it? But you see my partner is the one that introduced me to Aa! Megami Sama and the world of Keiichi Morisato and I just fell in love with the anime and of course Belldandy.

This anime has one of the most beautiful OST that I have ever heard and also introduced me to Yoko Ishida through the opening and ending credits.

B is for Bishoujo Senshi Sailor Moon!

Another golden oldie from my childhood, I was stuck between talking about this or Boku no Hero Academia but my love for Sailor Moon and Sailor Moon Crystal won over. (Yes I love Crystal even with the poor animation that it had at the start.)

Sailor Moon played a big part in my childhood and helped me deal with the changes that came along with maturity and well other things that shall not be mentioned here, hint: what happens when you are a young teen???

I always saw just how Usagi and her fellow Sailor Guardians managed to balance their personal lives with being the Sailor Guardians and coming to terms with what happened in their past lives. Just seeing how they struggled at times actually helped me deal with alot of issues that I was going through personally. Even to this day just re-watching Sailor Moon teaches me alot more about life even as an adult.

sailor moon

The manga itself is a work of art, I just love Noako Tekeuchi’s artwork, it really makes the manga a thing of beauty.

C is for Chobits!

You thought I was going to say Cardcaptor Sakura didn’t you?..Well I already spoke about how Cardcaptor Sakura got me into anime in this post and just like Sailor Moon, Cardcaptor Sakura is also another anime that helped me mature into the person that I am now, but Cardcaptor Sakura also introduced me to my favourite writing team Clamp and I just love all the manga/anime that they pushed out including Chobits. The manga to Chobits is pretty short but it tells a wonderful story!

I am kinda jealous that Hedeki is Chii’s owner as I just find Chii to be so so adorable, even with her not being able to speak properly.

D is for Dungeon ni Deai wo Motomeru no wa Machigatteiru Darou ka!

Phew! That is one long name!! This is one of my new favourites, I just love Bell and Hestia so so much and just have to laugh at some of their antics. I haven’t gotten that far into the first season so I can’t say much about the anime at this time besides that I love it!

The anime caught my eye when I spotted (and even bought) a figure on Hestia herself, just because I loved the way she looked. Now after watching a few episodes I just love Hestia alot more, her personality is so kind and energetic at times, but Hestia does have difficulty dealing with other females that Bell interacts with and comes across as a little jealous of them, which adds to the comedic affect of the anime. I just love the relationship that Bell and Hestia seem to have and cannot wait to find out if it develops more.

E is for Eromanga Sensei!

This is the only anime I have for E, and I don’t mind, not at all! Eromanga Sensei is the only anime that I was able to watch fully before hitting an anime slump and for the brief time it was airing, it helped me escape the world for a few minutes.

I’m really able to connect with Sagiri as in a way I also became a shut in when life got to hard for me and this anime just helped me get out of my shell more. It just taught me that even when life is kinda hard there is a silver lining.

Eromanga Sensei is funny and kinda lewd at times but it has a good story to it, I just love the relationship between Sagiri and her half brother Masamune and how Masamune helps to get Sagiri out of her shell more.

F is for Fruits Basket & Fullmetal Alchemist!

Okay I’ll admit it, I cheated here, I just cannot choose between these two at all, I spent countless nights just trying to choose and just gave up! Fruits Basket & Fullmetal Alchemist will always be among my favourites.

edward-elric-and-roy-mustang-fullmetal-alchemist-16031-1920x1200

I thoroughly enjoy rewatching both Fullmetal Alchemist & Fullmetal Alchemist Brotherhood. The way this anime is played out is just amazing, not only will FMA have you sitting on the edge of your seat at times but it will also be a slight tear jerker too.

(Who can forget what happened to Nina and Alexander!)

And then there’s Fruits Basket, I will admit that I never watched the original anime that aired back in 2001 but I am watching the remake and boy! This is a real tear jerker!!

I won’t spoil to much but the struggle that Tohru goes through really resonates with me, being unwanted by her original family is similar to my own situation, so you could say I know how Tohru feels, and learning about the struggles of each member of the Souma family goes through because of the curse also hits me right in the feels.

G is for Gintama!

I didn’t have anything for G, so I’m going to talk about one of my partners favourites instead, I have watched a small selection of episodes of Gintama and even though I wasn’t that interested in the anime, it did end up making me do my ugly laugh!

At times Gintama did have me confused and just asking “what is going on?,” But even though I didn’t quite understand what is going on in the show I still just ended up laughing my head off most of the time. The parody’s are so well done and are balanced so well with the more serious scenes of the show.

(One day I will get around to watching this!)

H is for Haibane Renmei!

I wanted a reason to talk about Haibane Renmei for a long time, this anime is quite slow paced but so relaxing to watch. The OST is also one of my favourites, Haibane Renmei is such a relaxing slice of life anime and is the first of many that I have watched.

I loved following Rakka on her journey to finding out the mystery behind the Haibane and walking towards her own salvation. Haibane Renmei not only follows her journey but also that of the other Haibane that she resides with. Rakka’s closeness to Reki was so sweet to watch develop and was so sad to see come to an end.

haibane_002

I is for Inuyasha!

Okay, I’ll admit it, I don’t have any anime for I besides this..I just love Rumiko Takahashi’s works and been wanting to watch Inuyasha for a long time and I have a reason too because of the sequel that will be airing in the near future.

ere

J is for Jigoku Shoujo!

Jigoku Shoujo is a pretty dark anime that I love and I usually tend to stay away from these types of anime, but I just got pulled into the world of Enma Ai after the first episode. I will admit that some of the episodes did leave me feeling a bit baffled but besides that Jigoku Shoujo is a good anime to watch.

I enjoyed learning just who Enma Ai is and how she became the one to ferry people to hell after the act of revenge is acted. At first I thought the individual that is making the contract with Enma Ai could be anyone that is seeking revenge but Enma makes sure that the act of revenge is for a valid reason and not for selfish or political reasons.

K is for Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi

I just adore Kakuriyo no Yadomeshi so much, it’s such a cute little shoujo that is so relaxing to watch. It’s one of the anime that I picked up way back in 2018.

I just love how Aoi Tsubaki handles things and takes each day as it comes, How when she was confronted by Oodanna about her grandfathers debt to him, she was willing to pay that debt back by working for Oodanna instead of marrying him. I also loved how the relationship between Aoi and Oodanna is fleshed out and played upon gradually instead of being forced straight of the bat.

kakuriyo

L is for Love Hina!

Another oldie and the only harem anime that I’ve watched. I think this was the only decent and hilarious harem anime (besides Tenchi Muyou) that I stumbled across and was willing to watch. I usually tend to avoid any harem anime usually due to how they tend to be the same thing over and over again or they lose that comedic side to them.

Love Hina on the other hand plays out the comedy very well to the point where it’s not overdone, I always ended up laughing during most of the comedic moments that Love Hina had to offer and totally adored the characters and the OST too boot! (I still keep humming the Legend of the Hot Spring Turtle song!)

Love_hina

M is for Moretsu Pirates!

Now how can I forget Marika and her crew, I know that this is strange considering that they are both different genres, but Moretsu Pirates is the one anime that got me into one piece recently.

I admire Marika alot and how she handles being a the captain of her dead fathers ship Bentenmaru. How when she is thrown into a difficult situation she tries and deal with that situation the best she can. I loved watching Marika come into her own and how she learns along the way.

bodacious-space-pirates

N is for New Mobile Report Gundam Wing!

I know, I know, I cheated here a little bit considering that the Japanese name is Shin Kidou Senki Gundam Wing, but I literally kept pulling a blank for the letter N, So went with this instead, that and I really wanna talk about this anime!

Gundam Wing is one of the many anime that introduced me to the anime world and fandom in general, it also introduced me into the world of Mecha anime and the Gundam Franchise.

Gundam Wing also helped me through a tough point in my life and helped me develop as an individual. You could say it’s one anime that I hold to a high standard for personal reasons. I’m not saying that that it’s a great anime as like many anime that I have watched Gundam Wing has it’s flaws.

I love all the characters and the Gundam/Mecha designs, the plot (even though at some points it confused the heck out of me) and the OST. It’s quite impactful in it’s own way and still gets me pulled into rewatching it from time to time.

O is for Okusama wa Mahou Shoujo!

Another oldie that I stumbled across, I actually watched this after I obtained a figure on Ureshiko from ebay.

HOB-FIG-3260_021

I just thought the figure looked so lovely and I am a sucker for magical girls thanks to Cardcaptor Sakura and Sailor Moon but wasn’t familiar with the anime, after some searching I found the anime on MasterAni when it was around and just thoroughly enjoyed watching the show.

It was great to stumble across a much older character that I could connect with as an adult and just understood most of what she went through and the struggles of trying to find that balance with everything.

P is for Pita Ten!

Is it me or is some of the anime I watch kinda old?

Anyway another classic, I watched the anime and read the manga to this, Pita Ten is still one of my favourites. Truthfully I wasn’t expecting Pita Ten to turn from a cute anime to quite a dark one. I literally got hit in the feels with this one at one point and was literally crying my eyes out.

Pita Ten is still quite a cute, funny anime that can get dark at times and that’s  what I really prefer. Misha always tends to make me smile still with her little antics.

Q is for Quanzhi Gaoshou!

This is one of the current anime that I have been watching and I love it! The King’s Avatar is one of the anime that got me back into Manhwa, I fell out of love with Manhwa a long time ago as there wasn’t that much access to it here in the UK.

I just love the character designs, especially to Ye Qiu’s avatar in the game, he just looks kick ass!! The story itself is quite good even if it does fall short in some ways.

quan-zhi-gao-shou-background

R is for Rurouni Kenshin!

I think we all know about Rurouni Kenshin, even though I am so gutted about what happened to Nobuhiro Watsuki, I will still be a fan of this series. (Though I do regret selling my manga and just want to buy the books again.)

I just love Himura and Kaoru, and just liked how their relationship developed over the entire series, the thing I regret is that I literally watched the dub to the anime and man…that was so bad….it literally put me off watching the entire series. Still I do love the anime and may go back to watching it again!

Rurouni-Kenshin-Blog-Art-1024x768

S is for Sen To Chihiro no Kamikakushi!

Time for something different, Spirited away is the first movie I watched in anime form and is also my first Studio Ghibli experience. I was blown away by everything about this movie, the pacing, the soundtrack, the character development. I know the not everyone likes this movie but Spirited Away just has that special something about it.

T is for Tenkuu no Escaflowne!

Another anime that I hold dear, The Vision of Escaflowne is such a beautiful anime with the most astounding OST. It’s about love and it’s about war but it’s main focus is the subject of fate.

Escaflowne is so unique as I have yet to come across another anime that deals in the subject of Fate, the characters are very likeable and the guymelef’s look amazing! Sadly though there’s a very niche fandom surrounding this anime as it didn’t really stand out against other big titles that also aired in the 90’s, like Dragonball Z, Gundam Wing and Sailor Moon to name a few. I would really recommend checking this anime out, just like all the anime on this list.

maxresdefault

U is for Uta no☆Prince-sama♪ Maji Love 1000%

I just adore this anime and of course adore the characters too, it’s colourful, cheery and upbeat, the OST is amazing and there’s plenty of songs that I love, Uta no Prince Sama is the anime that introduced me into the world of Idols and got me to check out alot of idol anime like Love Live: School Idol Project and Show By Rock.

uta_no_prince-sama_maji_love_1000_jp

V is for Violet Evergarden!

The OST and the animation in this anime is just amazing, it really took my breath away at times, the plot is pretty solid and Violet herself is just so likeable.

elasticlightheartedflies-size_restricted

To this day Violet Evergarden is my favourite anime by Kyoto Animation and is the one anime that introduced me to the Studio, I am so looking forward to seeing watching more anime by Kyoto Animation.

ec5c31ffc30c1bfed753214e6e92c01f

W is for Witch Hunter Robin!

I stumbled across Witch Hunter Robin on an old channel called Anime Central that mainly broadcasted anime here in the UK, I was totally hooked, I loved the mystery surrounding the protagonist Robin. It’s still enjoyable to watch from time to time.

ezgif.com-webp-to-jpg

X is for XXXHolic!

Just like with most of Clamp’s works, XXXHolic is one of my many favourites, I loved how balanced it was with the suspense of the anime and the comedic side of the anime, Yuuko is quite a character with her bad habits and her sassyness but also knows how to deal with alot of things really well when she needs too.

Watanuki also adds to the comedic affect, where Yuuko does have a somewhat carefree attitude, Watanuki is quite the opposite and always tries to be the serious one most of the time.

I will admit that at times the animation in XXXHolic can be quite absurd but I can always see past that and just enjoy the show!

holic

Y is for Yugioh Duel Monsters!

And to finish of the alphabet we have two of my faves, first up is Yugioh! Strangely enough I learnt alot about Egypt thanks to this anime. I am torn between Seto and Atem and cannot decide who I like more. (I won’t go on about Yugioh as I think everyone knows about this anime.)

yugioh-1158993-1280x0-1

And Z is for Yuri Kuma Arashi?!

I don’t have an anime the begins in Z, and I don’t think there is one! I was stuck between talking about Yugioh or Yuri Kuma Arashi and thought “why not do both?”  So here we are!

Yuri Kuma Arashi is the first Shoujo Ai that I’ve watched and well I was surprised by it, the plot behind this anime sounded a tad silly to me at first but the anime itself gave me a whole different opinion once I watched it.

Ginko and Lulu are just so adorable even in their bears forms (I think they could fit in with ANCH to be honest!) and bring about unlocking alot of secrets and discovering themselves, even changing Kureha’s opinion on the bears. It’s a lovely, light hearted Shoujo Ai that I just adore.
