[2] Picking Favourites

“Can I call it cheating when I pick more then one?”

This is my first journey through the “100 Days of Anime” Challenge, an ambitious project that I’m currently taking. For a full list of prompts click here.

“Favourite Anime You’ve Watched So Far?”

I will admit that my watch list of anime is quite small compared to others and as such the selection that I have watched is tiny, I do take my time watching anime and tend to not rush it. I love to take in every detail and just really feel the enjoyment of the episode that I am watching.

That and the fact that earlier this year saw me landing a new job and being inundated with alot of training to do and a hell of alot of adulting to add to the load just ended up with me being sidetracked from the anime I was watching.

However there are a couple of series that I am currently watching that I am thoroughly enjoying at the moment, one of which that stood out is Mahoutsukai no Yome (The Ancient Magus Bride).

Mahoutsukai no Yome is so captivating in its’ story, characterization and breathtaking visuals. The journey has been a roller coaster ride, (both physically and emotionally) during the Fall 2017 season. The story follows Chise Hatori, a 15 year old Japanese girl that was sold to a cloaked gentlemen. Being abandoned at a young age and ridiculed by her peers for her unconventional behavior, she was ready to give herself to any buyer if it meant having a place to go home to. In chains and on her way to an unknown fate, she hears whispers from robed men along her path, gossiping and complaining that such a buyer got his hands on a rare “Sleigh Beggy.”

The Ancient Magus' Bride

Ignoring the murmurs, the mysterious man leads the girl to a study, where he reveals himself to be Elias Ainsworth—a magus. After a brief confrontation and a bit of teleportation magic, the two open their eyes to Elias’ picturesque cottage in rural England. Greeted by fairies and surrounded by weird and wonderful beings upon her arrival, these events mark the beginning of Chise’s story as the apprentice and supposed bride of the ancient magus.

Being among some of the popular runners during the Fall 2017 season, this anime really stood it’s own ground and is really enjoyable to watch, I highly recommend given this anime a try!

Here’s to hoping for a season three! For now, I’ll just settle with manga!

Also, what’s your favourite anime and why? Any shows that have completely captured your attention for this season?

  1. Tengen Toppa Guren Lagann is my favorite Anime of all time! I just love it so much!
There isn’t a lot of seasonal stuff I am following. Tower of God would be the only one and as far as I have progressed (not far) I find it just okay. Not all that excited about next season either. Re: Zero 2 will be something I’ll be watching and maybe that idol girl show.. but I feel like those are 7 to 8 out of 10 shows max for me as well.

I like some really zaney stuff like Dokuro, Kill La Kill, FLCL .Board/card game anime always does well for me and Isekai. Some cute stuff here and there sprinkled troughout and voila. Random but epic with a bit of nawww! That’s a hard taste to please!
